Margarita Endemano Collection

1908–1917/1959

The Endemano Collections consists of postcards and correspondence primarily directed to Margarita between 1908 and 1917. Letters are addressed initially to Sonora Mexico and later to Nogales, Tucson, and California. A large grouping of postcards in folder #3 appears to have been mailed by the same person – although there is no name on the cards. Almost all the correspondence is in Spanish and originates in Mexico. The postcards are both printed and real photo cards with some tinting and coloring. Location depictions on the cards show Guadalajara, Hermosillo, and some street scenes in Nogales, Arizona. Julian worked at Steinfeld’s in Tucson and three postcards are addressed to him in-care-of that company. Additional interesting images on the cards include two couples in front of Old Main on the University of Arizona campus, the Phoenix Indian School Band members dated 1913, and one postcard with a cyanotype image. Folder #8 contains two small photographs of Julian and Margarita.
